What might be interesting to track is who is going around finding caches with high Achilles points. I don't know if this would be easy to figure out or not, but it might be fun to track who are the leaders shooting arrows into caches with high Achilles points.Team Tuxawuxa wrote:Achilles points were not scoring points, just how many points would be lost by a cache when the next finder logged it. For example, a cache earned 100 points every 12 months, or 8.3 per month. If after 1 year it had 2 finds, then each finder got 50 points. The Achilles points were 17 as adding another find would divide 100 by 3 and the cache would be worth 33.3 points now.

Then we would know who has a tendon-cy to be a real heel.Corfman Clan wrote:... but it might be fun to track who are the leaders shooting arrows into caches with high Achilles points.

I vote a firm no to poison.

So you don't think it would be interesting to see who has a tendency to be a real heel? Or maybe, who has been the biggest heel the past 30 days? I think it would be fun to see. Keep in mind that this would just be something a bit whimsical and in addition to the standard points leaderboards. I can also imagine some people delighting in being the biggest heel.Opjim wrote:And here is my take on the issue:

Re: Paris' Poison
Although these 'Achilles points' might be amusing to track, it seems to me that those going for high point Lonely Caches are going to be the same ones who get high Achilles points, for the most part. One exception is if you are the FTF a high point cache.
Let's see, if I find a 3-year-old cache with two previous finders, I earn 100 cache points and 50 Achilles points. If I find an 11-year-old cache (none exist yet!) with 10 previous finders, I still earn 100 cache points, but only 10 Achilles points. It seems Achilles points might push cachers towards new caches over older ones.
But I seriously doubt most cachers would even look at the Achilles points. The challenge of simply finding Lonely Caches and getting the points for the find is a much bigger motivator for me. Of course, I'm unlikely to be on any Leaderboards, so I won't be interested in 'sabotaging' someone else's points so I can climb in the rankings, either! That's really the only motive anyone might have to go after Achilles points.

For the canines it's all about finding BC/LC cache's, we never really thought about the achillies points. Don't really have a strong feeling one way or another. Itching to see the site and our new "Most Wanted"

IT might be fun to see, but I'm less interested in this than I am in the points available for the find.Corfman Clan wrote:So you don't think it would be interesting to see who has a tendency to be a real heel? Same here. Mildly interesting, but no real effect for me either way. Of course, that could be because I'll never be at threat to any of the leaders anyway.
Re: Paris' Poison
I agree. Some of this is way over thought for what I did DGP for.

Re: Paris' Poison
Enjoy your days off getting out to the backcountry!
There didn't appear to be much enthusiasm to track Paris' Poison, so I more or less tabled the idea. Work has been done, however, on listing a cacher's achilles caches. Here's yours: Achilles Caches Hidden or Found by shushyaz&foxy. Now we just need to rearrange the GeocacherPage and find a good place to add a link.
As an aside, for those who don't know, Paris was son of Prium, king of Troy. By some accounts, Paris shot a poisoned arrow that nicked Achilles' heel and mortally wounded him.
